As you know, for some time I have been attempting to create a discussion group about books. Some of you may remember my first attempt that was a disorganized mix of emails and a single page on this website that never quite made it farther than me and a few others buying the books then stacking them on the “to read” shelf. Well I am back at it again but this time Sid and I have worked together (what a concept!) to create a working Virtual Book Club using this blog as a foundation.
Here is the general idea, a book title will be initially introduced in a post, from there those that want to participate can leave their general comments about “reading deadlines” etc. Once a general time frame is created, participants can go to the Forums page and begin conversing about the book via threaded discussions.
So what do you say…are you up for some conversation via Sid’s virtual coffee-house? ![]()

I’m game if we can figure out how I can drink a virtual cappuccino.
So far, it looks like a book club of 3.
I love the idea…can I suggest we read the text books that I have for class?? I know we would all love to read the theoritical and mathematical application of Macroeconomics!
Great! I am glad to hear that there is interest. Let’s wait for a few others to comment then we will select books and a time frame.
Haven’t we sort of already selected books?
We sure did, but interest seemed to wane fairly quickly in those. I’m alright with using the same two, but we want to make sure everyone else is as well.
yeah, thought we were gonna read that Omnivore’s Dilemma. We bought it in hard back and everything. Still haven’t read it though. But I think B has.
For those who may not know, the orginal books were The Omnivore’s Dillema by Michael Pollan and Just and Unjust Wars by Michael Walzer. Like Chop, I also bought the OD in hardback.
And Bridget and I read OD already. I think I’ve forgotten a lot of it already. That’s okay, I can just go through some of my old chats with B. and recall my opinions.
it’s a pretty lil hard back, huh?
Ooh! I want to read too. I haven’t read eiher of those. It sounds like a good excuse to go shopping and then spend days in bed.
All right bunnies, what’s it gonna be, i’m ready to start reading.
Stay tuned for a Virtual Book Club update coming this weekend
