Greetings,
Here is this week’s TITMT. Sid is sick so I am posting it for him. I can’t do any of that fancy stuff like pictures, links or the white-rectangle-thingy without his help so I am using the primitive cut-and-paste method. Enjoy!
P.S. Janet is asking this question since she is planning her own wedding. I added part 1A.
1. If you’re married, what was your wedding song?
1A. Why did you chose that song?
2. If you’re not married, what song would you wish was your wedding song?
3. Do you have any suggestions for someone like me? (don’t be offended if I gag at a choice or two. Like I said, I am very selective about the musical company I keep. I just want to see what y’all come up with.)

Our wedding song was Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and we chose it because not only do we both find it to be a beautiful song but we both discovered it and fell in love with it together. So it just seemed to fit for us.
We didn’t pick our song until well into the planning process, we kept just putting it off because it is a tough decision and we really didn’t want to have to deal with it. Then my wife suggested to use Chasing Cars and I thought “huh, how perfect” and that is how it happened, nice and easy. So don’t worry too much Janet, one day the right song will just come to you and sorry but it was hard enough for us and I still can’t think of any other good songs!
Our first dance was to “Dance Me To the End of Love” by Madeleine Peyroux. We wanted to swing dance for our first dance, and we were having trouble finding an appropriate song. Someone on theknot.com suggested it, so I looked it up, liked it, and showed it to Chopdeli. He liked it too, and so we went with it.
New York New York
Becuase it was the song we first kissed to.
Whoever gets stuck with me had better like “You Got It” by Roy Orbison, or no deal.
Sid and I both dig Coltrane and picked his “My One and Only Love” with Johnny Hartman doing vocals.
Thanks for covering for me while I was sick, Bunnies4Buddha.
What B4B doesn’t mention is that One and Only Love wasn’t our first choice. That was another song featuring both Coltrane and Hartman, Lush Life. We like that song more but ended up deciding that it wasn’t appropriate for a wedding. Then again, considering how much B4B drank that night, maybe it was…
Music is far too personal to suggest to someone else what song a couple should use for their wedding so sorry Janet, but I have no suggestions for you.
Been so long …I don’t remember a first dance wedding song….however If I had to pick a longtime marriage favorite it would be “You are my Sunshine”
