I didn’t realize how much I was missing the weekly question we used to post until it was gone (Janet has taken a break from it to focus on other things). Anyway, with that in mind I thought I would take on the responsibility and send something out.
This week’s question is geared to all of those Internet junkies out there….
What are some of the websites you read the most and why?
I myself need to think about this one a bit so stay tuned for my answer

For Me, the most visited website is this one, of course, because it’s mine.
I also hit up each of the blog links on my left sidebar at least once almost every day. That’s because they are run by very intelligent and/or interesting people and, with the exception of the last one, stimulating conversation. The last one, The Way the Cookie Crumbles, isn’t about discussion and argument. It’s about something much more important: Food! Even if you’re not much of a cook, it’s worth checking out just for the pictures.
Other sites that I semi-frequent because of the intelligent content includes Richard Dawkins’ site (expecialy the articles section), Edge.org, and TED.com.
I also visit KCRW most days to listen to my favorite radio program, Metropolis. I’m just getting into some other new music sites as well. I wrote about RCRD LBL recently and Shaze introduced me to Last.fm, which I am currently listening to. I may blog about that later.
First site I go to in the morning is Google Reader. I just added my hundredth feed, so it’s like 100 sites in one! I also enjoy Dawkins’ site as well as Friendly Atheist.
I’ve got a pretty big group of sites both in my RSS readers and ones that I just have in favorites. I skim the tech and movies categories on the reader. I don’t miss a day reading my webcomics (exept maybe weekends). I also have a circle of friends’ blogs I read including this one, Toby’s, and no surprise quite a few religious blogs. I particularly like thinklings.org since it’s a group blog and they all have a pretty good sense of humor. My favorite foodie blogs are Meathenge (http://www.cyberbilly.com/meathenge/) and Simply recipes (http://www.elise.com/recipes/). I’ll stop now cause I could go on. Just check my sidebar.

I have a clearly defined order of websites that I visit throughout the day, and so I will share it in excruciating detail, because I may be obsessive. I start with Penny Arcade, a habit from my days of yore playing a lot of videogames (now it’s the only game site I visit). Next comes Religious Freaks, then here, from which I check Scott’s website and then my own blog (for the occasional comment). Sometimes I look at the blog of Eddie Fitzgerald, an artist of the Ren and Stimpy style who occasionally makes some very interesting musings on people and art. Lastly I try to look at The Philosophers’ Magazine Online daily for some interesting articles and discussions. Recently they thought they could slip a discussion of Nietzsche’s madman past me. They were wrong (guess which commenter is me!).
Next is news. New York Times several times a day, Fox News once or twice, and less often the BBC, Al-Jazeera, Xinhua, and The Islamic Republic News Agency for occasional amusement. I’m all about variety.
Lastly I inevitably go to Something Awful, which has the mixture of comedy, spite, and a forum that discusses everything ever. And for future reference, I do not have stairs in my house.
I have had some time to think about this one and honestly the sites I visit frequently depend on what hobbies I am focussing on. If I am doing a lot of reading than I surf librarything.com or amazon.com(”window shopping”)or even sites devoted to learning about specific authors (thank you google and wikipedia). Recently I have been checking out gardening websites like better homes & gardens and yougrowgirl.com. I also find myself checking ESPN for sports scores sometimes and I am a slave to my email accounts (both personal and work).
I always check this site (of course) and although I hate to admit it, Sid often finds be shopping online (I love shoes!)
I’ve been avoiding answering this because it’s a little embarrassing.
I keep Google reader open pretty much whenever I’m on the computer, and check updates every hour or so. Most but not all of the sites I subscribe to are food blogs.
I check CNN a few times each day, as well as weather.com.
I look up recipes on Cooks Illustrated’s website and on epicurious.com.
And, I hang out on a cooking chat board associated with thenest.com.
I spend too much time on the internet.
So I am starting to think that I really have no websites, other than this one, that I go to regularly. Well I don’t go to websites for entertainment or information or good reading or anything like that again aside from sidfaiwu.com, the greatest site ever! Most of the sites I visit are out of boredom at work just to check when I am waiting on something. So these sites are not ones I go to on the weekend but I do visit them almost daily.
Newsnet5.com for traffic updates and local stories
CNN for news
SI.com for sports
Yahoo for email
I use Google for about everything, including my real email.
There is another site I like to visit because it is related to a podcast I subscribe to and that is freebeerandhotwings.com. It is a website for a morning show that I got hooked on and they have videos and stuff they post that I find funny but it is a choice and crude humor.
