This is what can happen when people take psychics seriously. A Canadian School Board made accusations of sexual abuse based on a psychic’s ‘vision’.
Leduc said they advised her that Victoria’s educational assistant (EA) had visited a psychic, who said a youngster whose name started with “V” was being sexually abused by a man between 23 and 26 years old.
For some reason, I’m unconvinced. You?
I found this story by way of this Skepticality post.

But…but…it’s like the same first letter!
Never underestimate the power of stupidity in our present culture of fear from the mass media.
I now. The fear of child molesters is approaching witch-hunt status. Apparently America’s culture of fear is spreading.
It really happened Sid unless the newspapers are making it up complete with pictures and everything.Dalton Mcguinty is the premier of Ontario and bills himself as the education premier. If you have ever heard Dalton speak you will know that the irony of this happening under his watch is just toooo good.
Oh, I know it really happened. I was saying that I was unconvinced by the psychic.
I discussed this article with a coworker. She was appalled that the word of a Psychic was used as the sole basis for the investigation, and yet in the next sentence she professed a belief in psychic abilities. I then politely professed my doubts based on the inability of psychics to explain how it works and the lack of repeatable scientific tests, after which she said typical engineer. The subject was then changed.
lol, nice. Skeptics aren’t very popular.
