I finally took the time to record Deme (right-click to download) the way I’ve always wanted to. This song is one of my oldest surviving songs. It’s at least 10 years old and was written on a cheap midi sequencer using sounds from an Alesis QuadraSynth 6. Because of that, the song has a very old-school sound. Unfortunately, the complexity of the song combined with limited computing power of the time prevented me from making a quality recording. I now have the equipment and finally took the time.
Please give the song a listen. You can download directly from the link above or stream it using the embedded player in my sidebar. I’m interested in hearing your feedback. Constructive criticism is encouraged. Thanks!

I like it. Very upbeat and (thinking as a podcaster) good for an action piece.
Cool. As usual, go ahead and use any part of it for you podcast.
The more I listen to these songs, the more impressed I am with them.
The repeating (keyboard-like?) theme of this one reminds me of an old Nintendo game I used to play. I like how that theme (for lack of a better word – my music language isn’t up to par, I know) plays different roles in the song at different parts. At first, it’s the main melody, and then it gets equal billing with supporting parts, and near the end, it’s in the background.
I think I’ve noticed in some of your other music a increase in complexity throughout the song, which I enjoy hearing.
I really enjoy how this song is steady at first then builds up to its final frantic pace.
Hello Bridget and B4B,
Thanks for the kind works. ‘Theme’ works for me. I’m pretty sure I know what you’re talking about. The increasing complexity / build-up is definitely a technique I like to use.
This is definitely my favorite out of all your posted pieces. The theme towards the end, though… I keep expecting it to break into the Sabre Dance. adds a weird bit of anticipation in there that’s not entirely unpleasant. Great movement. I like.
Um, no. This is just ‘electronica’. How much of it did you actually play? It sounds like something anyone with a copy of Acid Pro would produce. I’m sure you’re a talented musician, but what parts did you actually play, as opposed to using loops? I’m not trying to put you down, but as a musician myself, I tend to shy away from those sorts of things. I would rather a whole composition be done by myself, than use pre-recorded ‘bits’ so to speak. Just my 2 cents anyway. Other than that, I like your blog. Good day.
Hello Farkus,
Thanks for visiting, but I must admit that I don’t quite understand your comment. I don’t think I ever claimed that this song is anything but electronica. I also don’t understand why you think I didn’t compose the entire thing. I used no pre-recorded loops and wrote the whole thing measure-by-measure. It’s all original work.
I’m not sure I’m a talented musician (drums are the only instrument I can play with any competence), but I hope I have some skill in composition, recording, and production. That’s the point of electronic music for me. I shy away from pre-recorded loops for the same reason – I’d rather the whole composition be written (if not played) by myself.
Perhaps this song will be more your tastes. It’s 80% played by humans.
